Horseback riding: Stables in Allenspark, Wild Basin
Area and Estes Park, 5 miles, 10 miles and 21 miles away respectively.
Rock
Climbing: A fun area called Iron Clads 4 miles away, entrance
to Longs Peak and the trail to the Diamond is 12 miles away
and the famous Lumpy Ridge area with Twin Owls and Sundance
in Estes Park about 23 miles away. Of course you can also
just hanging out at the cabin and relaxing by the river!
Skiing: Eldora Ski area about 30 minutes away just beyond Nederland;
cross country skiing at Camp Dick 10 minutes down Route 72
just past Peaceful Valley. Rocky mountain National Park entrance
at Wild Basin has great cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
Fishing: Fish along the Middle Saint Vrain directly in the back yard;
Lilly Lake is a Gold Medal Fishery 15 miles down Highway 7.
There is famous Estes Park Lake where it is not uncommon to
feel the powerful hits and massive runs of enormous brown
trout. Northern Pike and Tiger Muskies are also in abundance.
And of course there are many streams and lakes in the Park
if you like to walk where very few people go.
Shopping,
Dining and Antique Shops: Along the 21 mile stretch from
Raymond to Estes Park you'll find many cafes and restaurants,
antique stores and souvenir shops. Be sure to check out Allenspark
and the Wild Basin area of Rocky Mountain National Park. Lyons
(15 miles south of the cabin) also has good restaurants, groceries
and cool bars with music.
Kids
Stuff: Estes Park has a couple mini golf, go-carts, big
slide and games places. We go every year with our kids and
they never tire of it.
